Low pressure intensified as it moved northeast along a stationary front stretching from Southwest Arkansas into the Ohio Valley. Deep moisture surged north from the Gulf of Mexico resulting in a large area of heavy showers and thunderstorms moving into western sections of the Mid-South during the evening of January 12, 2013.
