An upper low was located over southern Kentucky on the morning of the 19th, with a shortwave trough extending into northern Georgia. Tropical moisture prevailed over Georgia as well. Widespread showers with embedded thunderstorms developed across a portion of north Georgia early in the morning and moved slowly south.
