Strong instability, combined with weak winds aloft, led to the development of scattered strong thunderstorms across central Kentucky during the late afternoon and evening hours. The strongest storms produced marginally severe hail and isolated damaging wind gusts. Localized heavy rains of 2 to 3 inches produced flash flooding southeast of downtown Louisville and in Marian and Boyle Counties.
