The copious amounts of rain which occurred in west-central and central Illinois from April 17th into the morning of April 18th resulted in a continuation of widespread flooding until the morning of April 22nd. Every stream and creek west of a line from Rushville to Minonk was flooded. Thousands of homes and businesses remained flooded and hundreds of roads were closed. Excessive rainfall during the middle of April led to widespread flooding across a large part of northern and central Illinois. Locations from the Chicago metro area, southwest along the Illinois River Valley, received 5 to 10 inches over a two day period from the 17-18th.
