Flash Flood — Union, NM

Aug 3, 2013

A weak back door frontal boundary pushed southwest and stalled over the northeast plains of New Mexico. This boundary interacted with abundant moisture and instability over the area to produce numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some of these thunderstorms were strong to severe with torrential rainfall and hail. Heavy rainfall over a large portion of northern Colfax and Union counties drained through Dry Cimarron Creek and produced a near historical rise on the Cimarron River at Kenton, Oklahom
