An upper level disturbance interacted with a stationary frontal boundary over eastern New Mexico to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms. Thunderstorms developed initially over the northern high terrain during the early afternoon hours and expanded in coverage and intensity by late afternoon as they moved eastward onto the adjacent highlands.
