In an area of deep moisture, thunderstorms formed in the afternoon and produced heavy rain over a short period of time in the Charleston area. After the torrential rains ended, an above normal tide occurred at 745 pm, which prohibited flood waters from draining. The Flash Flood Warning was originally issued at 148 pm EDT and extended until 745 EDT to account for the ongoing flooding.
