Isolated to scattered thunderstorms developed across portions of Imperial and eastern Riverside county during the afternoon hours on September 2nd, and they continued into the evening. The atmosphere was quite moist and unstable, and as a result the thunderstorms produced both strong gusty outflow winds and locally heavy rainfall. Rainfall rates as estimated by radar exceeded 2 inches per hour at times and led to flash flooding across portions of eastern Riverside county, mainly east of Joshua T
