Monsoon moisture from the southeast, as well as the remnants of Tropical Storm Ivo, set off thunderstorms along and east of a line from Big Bear, south to Tecate, Mexico each afternoon/evening. These storms produced very heavy rain, with over 2 inches measured at many mountain and desert locations including Agua Caliente, Borrego Springs, Pine Hills and La Quinta.
