A strong low pressure system tracked northeast from Kentucky to western New York state during the daylight hours on Thursday the 16th. A large fetch of Gulf and Atlantic moisture was pulled northward ahead of the cold front, which produced a squall line of thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall.
