A complex area of low pressure intensified as it slowly moved off the Mid Atlantic coastline on January 2nd. It continued to reorganize (975 mb) and move south of Cape Cod on the 3rd. Gale force northerly winds on January 3rd combined with building|nearshore waves up to 15 feet to produce splash-over and coastal flooding near the time of high tide.
