A round of very intense rainfall occurred in the state overnight on the 23rd into the morning of the 24th. During the event of the 23rd-24th (12.34 inches at Lake Rathbun Dam). A widespread area of 3 to 5 inch rainfall was observed. Fortunately, the heavy rainfall during this event was over southern Iowa and not across the north where repeated heavy rainfall events had occurred.
