An organized complex of strong to severe thunderstorms tracked southeast through north Alabama during the early through mid afternoon hours. Several of the thunderstorms produced damaging winds taking down trees and power lines. In northeast Alabama, a cluster of thunderstorms merged over the town of Fort Payne dumping up to around 4 inches of rain on the Big Wills Creek basin producing the fourth highest crest to date and significant flash flooding and damage.
