Thunderstorms rolled in off the Great Lakes producing large hail and damaging winds. In some locations the steady fall of hail was enough to whiten the ground. The shower of hail stripped leaves from trees. In addition, the thunderstorms produced localized heavy rains which resulted in poor drainage flooding. Two to four inches of rain fell on Lowville forcing the closure of some roads.
