Jul 10, 2000
Flooding rains that fell near the Minnesota-Iowa border during the early morning of July 9 and 10 caused the Cedar River to rise quickly. Due to high water, several roads had to be closed and some residents were forced to sandbag to protect homes and businesses. Crops near the river that had been resown due to flooding in June were lost once again. At Charles City (Floyd County), the river crested on July 12 at 17.5 feet, which is 5.5 feet above flood stage.
