A cluster of thunderstorms, known as a mesoscale convective system (MCS), developed well to the northwest of Arkansas on the evening of the 9th. The thunderstorms entered northwest Arkansas on the morning of the 10th and then re-intensified in the state during the afternoon. A few storms became severe and produced heavy rainfall.
