An upper level high centered over the Four Corners gradually shifted east during the morning hours. This allowed monsoonal moisture to come up from the south and southwest. Showers and thunderstorms initially developed over the higher terrain of northern and western New Mexico during the early afternoon. A cluster of showers with embedded moderate to heavy rain then expanded during the evening hours. A water-conveying channel was over-topped causing water to flow over service roads in the area,
