The first significant rainfall of the month affected much of the Des Moines Hydrologic Service Area (HSA) on the 5th as scattered showers and the seasons's first thunderstorms moved across the area. The 24-hour isohyetal map showed a chaotic pattern as 0.50 to 0.75 inches fell across west central Iowa, mainly in the North Raccoon River basin.
