A nearly stationary thunderstorm dropped over one inch of rain within one hour in the vicinity of Gateway. Runoff from the heavy rain swept through a restaurant, store and hotel that border Highway 141. In addition, Highway 141 was temporarily closed due to excessive water spilling over the roadway. John Brown Canyon Road was also washed out in places due to the excessive runoff.
