A cold front dropped slowly south into central sections of Arkansas on the 8th, with scattered thunderstorms developing across portions of western Arkansas along and ahead of this front. The front became nearly stationary during the evening of the 8th, with rounds of thunderstorms developing along and south of this boundary through the night of the 8th and the morning of the 9th.
