Thunderstorms repeatedly moved over the same corridor from Ripley County east-northeast across the Poplar Bluff area to Scott County. Over the course of a few hours, 3 to 5 inches of rain fell. Personnel at the airport in Doniphan measured 3.2 inches of rain in only 2 hours, and 4.2 inches in 4 hours. Major flooding occurred in Ripley County, where about two dozen roads were washed out. The washouts were at least 8 inches deep. Highway 160 was flooded near several communities, including Fairdeal
