Afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing across the mountains formed into a broken line that moved across the foothills and Piedmont during the late afternoon and evening. A few of the storms became briefly severe, producing localized downbursts. Locally heavy rainfall and urban flooding was reported in the Charlotte metro area.
