Scattered thunderstorms developed along a quasi-stationary front on the afternoon and evening of May 28. One of the storms became briefly severe as it deposited nickel-size hail in the town of Marbletown, Ulster County. Slow moving thunderstorms produced torrential rain in Herkimer County. Local amounts of up to to 3 inches of rainfall accumulated in the vicinity of Old Forge causing flash flooding as numerous roads were washed out.
