After a half-inch of rain fell on Wallace the evening of August 20, another half-inch of rain fell on Wallace the evening of August 21. Many streets in Wallace were under several feet of water for a time with vehicles stalled out in deep puddles. Some public buildings in Wallace suffered water damage.

Periodic heavy rain and mountain snow melt caused the St. Joe River the flood. Extensive flooding of fields, roads, outbuildings and yards of residences and businesses in the river bottom lands occurred. A few residences and businesses experienced first floor flooding as well.
