Flood Cause
Heavy Rain

Scattered thunderstorms across the eastern Bluegrass Region produced a westward moving outflow boundary. Isolated storms developed along this boundary, including one small cell just east of Lexington. This cell remained stationary during its hour long life and dumped around 2 inches over an area only a few square miles in size.

Early on Sunday, August 10th, a nearly stationary front stretched from weak low pressure in Arkansas northeast along the Ohio River. This boundary became a focus for repeated episodes of slow moving heavy thunderstorms throughout the day, and even into Monday.
