A warm and humid air mass was in place across the region on the afternoon of July 2nd with a stationary front to the west of the region. This set the stage for showers and thunderstorms which produced very heavy rain. Two to four inches of rain fell in less than 2 hours in the Rumford area washing out several roads and flooding streets.
