May 2004 began rather dry with an average of only 0.19 inches of rain over the first week of the month. However, the second week of May brought seasonally normal rainfall. Heavy rain occurred during the third week of the month. May's greatest rain events came back to back. The first round of heavy rain producing thunderstorms began on the morning of the 21st and continued into the morning of the 22ns.
