Rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches caused widespread flash flooding. Numerous road washouts were reported by law enforcement officials across northeast Iowa. In addition, two bridges were washed out and 40 homes received flood damage in Fredericksburg (Chickasaw County). Mudslides blocked Highway 76 near Effigy Mounds and the Great River Road near Waukon Junction (Allamakee County). Due to extensive damage caused by flooding, all counties in northeast Iowa were declared disaster areas.
