Localized downpours hit the Matewan to Varney region of Mingo County, plus the Mt Gay, Holden, and Whitman region of Logan County. Rain amounts were estimated at 1.5 to 2.5 inches. Mute Creek flooded into Matewan. The public housing complex in North Matewan saw a few inches of water into 17 of the 35 units. About 100 residents were evacuated.
