Thunderstorms developed in a moderately unstable airmass along the lake breeze boundary that extended across the lower Genesee Valley and Western Finger Lakes. The thunderstorms produced damaging winds that downed trees and wires in Greece and Newark. Hail also fell from the storms: one-inch hail reported in Rochester and three-quarter-inch hail covered the ground in Newark. The heavy rains that fell resulted in urban flooding.
