The remnants of Hurricane Ivan interacting with a slowly moving cold front caused widespread very heavy rain to fall from the late evening of the 17th through the first half of the day on the 18th in Sussex County. Doppler Radar storm total estimates averaged between 2 and 5 inches throughout the county. The torrential rain caused widespread poor drainage, creek and river flooding.
