In the presence of steep low-level rates and in the vicinity of a sharpening pre-frontal surface trough, slow moving storms developed across the southern Piedmont and Sandhills during the afternoon and early evening. Severe thunderstorm winds brought down several trees in Cumberland and Moore Counties. Isolated flooding was also reported inside the Fayetteville city limits.
