Deep tropical moisture was in place across the region as a slow moving low pressure system tracked northeast across eastern North Carolina. A large swath of 5 to 8 inches of rain fell across the eastern Piedmont and coastal plain counties of North Carolina throughout the day and into the overnight hours. This heavy rainfall resulted in minor flooding and closed numerous roads across the area. The most severe flooding occurred in Warren County where as much as 9 inches fell that led to the collap
