A powerful storm tracked northeast across Ontario and Quebec provinces on the 18th. Ahead of this storm, brisk south winds caused temperatures to rise into the 40s creating snow melt. Widespread rainfall of 1.5 to 2.5 inches on the night of the 17th through early afternoon of the 18th increased run-off into area watersheds.
