Four days of moderate to heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture influx from Hurricane John (which was moving up the Baja Peninsula) led to widespread flooding across much of southern New Mexico. Many roads were flooded in the area with law enforcement agencies reporting numerous closures. A drainage system in Sunland Park once again failed which resulted in homes being flooded.
