Major flooding occurred as thunderstorms stalled and dumped torrential rains across the St. Thomas area west of Chambersburg. Up to 12 inches of rain fell in the area overnight, washing out roads and flooding homes. A 42 year old female drowned after driving into a flooded road at 11:45 p.m. Rescue attempts failed. Damage estimates were in the range of $1 million.
