A coastal low pressure system that developed along the northeast U.S. coast from the remnants of Pacific Hurricane Fausto brought high winds and heavy rain to coastal Maine. The storm brought up to 2 inches of rain to southern coastal locations, with scattered power outages and downed trees. Five boats broke loose from their moorings in South Portland causing at least $50,000 in damages. In Rockland, a 27 ft sailboat was also driven aground by the strong winds.
