Nov 16, 1996
Three beach camps and 30 feet of shoreline was washed away by wave action when strong south winds in excess of 55 mph pushed in from the Gulf of Mexico. Two small cable boats and a jack-up rig were also damaged. The wind pushed water from the Gulf over La. 82 from 4 miles west of the Cameron ferry to the Texas state line, leaving tons of driftwood and heavy logs along the highway.
