Highways 145 and 146, the two main arteries through Pope County, were closed by high water and debris. A vehicle attempting to cross a flooded highway became submerged in floodwater. A Pope County sheriffs deputy rescued the sole occupant of the vehicle, a female who was hanging from the luggage rack on the vehicle. The sheriffs deputy waded through the water and carried her to safety. Both the officer and the victim were treated for hypothermia at a local hospital. Several roads were washed out
