A thunderstorm moving north along the west slope of the Sandia mountains produced a brief funnel cloud over Kirkland Airforce Base. The storm intensified over eastern Albuquerque dropping dime size hail and 1 to 2 inches of rain. One city street intersection was closed for about 5 days after the pavement was undercut by flood waters which burst through the city drain.
