On October 7, 2007 thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front and trained across Delaware county in northeast Iowa. Rainfall of 6 inches fell in only about 3 hours in the late afternoon, causing considerable flash flooding in the city of Manchester, and surrounding rural areas. Many streets and basements were flooded, with some cars under water in Manchester. In the rural areas, ditches overflowed damaging gravel roads. No deaths or injuries were reported.
