Heavy rains in the northern and eastern Copper River Basin Tuesday night and Wednesday caused a significant rise in water levels on the McCarthy Creek (in the town of McCarthy). A footbridge was washed out Wednesday afternoon and the "old powerhouse" in McCarthy was within 6 inches of flooding. Along the McCarthy Road...from Crystal Lake to McCarthy, water was reported blowing over the road at low spots where no culverts existed.
