The strongest northeaster of the winter battered Coastal New Jersey, especially from Ocean County southward, with damaging winds, moderate to severe coastal flooding, extensive beach erosion, several dune breaches and heavy rain. A state of emergency was declared for all the coastal counties and both Atlantic and Cape May Counties were declared federal disaster areas.
