Flash Flood — Buchanan, VA

Rains of 1.5 to 3 inches fell in about 18 hours on the 16th. Widespread creek and headwater river flooding blocked roads and surrounding some dwellings. A restaurant and a gasoline station were flooded in Sandlick of Dickenson County. Water and mud got into homes in the headwaters of the Russell Fork. This included the Council and Davenport region of Buchanan County.

A warm front lifted north through the area on the 3rd. Rain amounts were mostly around 2 to 4 tenths of an inch. Late afternoon and evening temperatures rose into the 40s and 50s. Winds and dew points also increased.
