Unseasonably warm weather resulted in dramatic snowmelt with rapid rises on rivers the last few days of March. In addition, showers and thunderstorms with heavy downpours moved across the area on the 30th further enhancing runoff into rivers and streams. In particular, the Black River began flooding fields the evening of the 29th and continued through the end of the month. At times route 5 in the coventry area was impacted by flood waters from this river.
