A band of thunderstorms persisted for several hours from central Missouri to the Bootheel of Missouri. This resulted in very heavy rainfall totals, with estimates of up to 1.5 inches per hour. Over some areas of eastern Butler County, rainfall estimates were as much as 4 to 5 inches within a 6 hour period.
