An area of weak low pressure over New England and New York combined with a moist unstable airmass resulted in evening and late night thunderstorms Thursday (June 25th) into early Friday (June 26th) with locally torrential downpours. Specifically, in and around Port Douglas, NY roads and railroad track were washed out. During the late night hours, a train engine and 5 train cars derailed with extensive damage.
