The Big Muddy River remained above flood stage at Murphysboro from late January through much of February. The flooding was generally minor, affecting uninhabited agricultural and recreational areas. A few houses just downstream of Bridge Street were affected. The crest at Murphysboro was 25.76 feet on the 12th, which is about 10 feet above flood stage. Upriver at Plumfield, the river crested about 2 feet above the 20-foot flood stage on the 10th.
