After a needed week of dry weather, moderate to heavy rains returned to parts of the HSA, mostly during the overnight hours of june 22 into the 23rd. The heaviest rains fell over the Raccoon and Des Moines river basins in west central and central Iowa. Guthrie Center, in the Middle Raccoon watershed picked up a 24 hour total of 3.09 inches. Boon, along the Des Moines River received 2.86 inches. Response on the Raccoon was quite rapid, with the gage at Van Meter climbing from near 7 feet to 1
