A weak upper air feature moved east-southeast into Iowa out of eastern South Dakota and southern Minnesota. The airmass was very unstable with CAPE values around 7000 J/kg and lifted indices near -12 degrees C. Thunderstorms formed northwest of Iowa and moved southeast into the state. Though most of them were not severe, one storm produced a 58 MPH wind gust at the Mason City Airport. The main problem with the storms was the heavy rainfall.
